3. COURSES AND LECTURES FOR LARGER GROUPS A. Working methods, ergonomics, working postures, Work efficient and sit well and see well, maintaining health, reducing fatique and winning time and energly. 4 handed dentistry. DUO/SOLO methods. Organisation of instruments and materials. Practise organisation. Workplace ergonometrics and design.
There are two main themes in the courses: "Working
in fine workingpositions” and
"Save
time and energy – efficiency – work smarter – not harder”
Many years of experience training dental
teams may be concluded as following.
1.
Objectives for assistance are undefined without clear description of the functions
of assistant, and how dentist and assistant divide the sum of tasks.
Most dentists and assistants are apparently
not conscious of how important it is to organize instruments and
materials within close reach of the assistants. In most cases something
as simple as a working-table-top for the sitting assistant is lacking.
2.
The
workingpositions of the dentist are often scaring bad and unacceptable.
One may think this is strange, because
everyone – dentist or not – know that in a good workingposition you dont
bend or twist your spine (columna vertebralis).
However the problem is’nt
a matter of knowledge, but that we have a lot of “professional
reasons” for working in poor working- positions.
These are ex.
Our need to se what we are doing – may by direct (without a
mirror) in upper jaw lead us to very bad workingpositions. Our
workingspostion is too depending of how we hold our instrument in our
hand, how to support it and how to get acces to the mouth of the
patient.
One could say, that the reason for poor
workingpositions are our working-methods, and only by modifying or
changing workind-methods is it possible to work in fine workingpositions. However
the only possibility for improvement of the working-positions are
depending on changes of our professional working-methods.
